What is a Right Hand Peek in Fortnite
Exercise: Right-Hand Peek Drill
Exercise Description
In this exercise, players will develop the habit of using right-hand peeks to safely engage opponents during fights. Since Fortnite is a third-person shooter, we can use the camera angle to our advantage by positioning ourselves in a way that exposes less of our body while still being able to land clean shots. Mastering this mechanic is key to surviving close-range encounters and outplaying opponents in box fights and build battles.
Step-by-Step
- Load into Coach Philip's Practice Map (Code: 1610-6883-6388) and go into Peek Practice.
- Practice right-side edits on a wall—such as a right window or top-right corner—and shoot at a target while staying behind cover.
- Place a wall and edit a window to your right, you should not be visible from the other side, then peek to the right and shoot, afterwards go left again.
- Set up 1v1 situations or box fights where you're only allowed to take shots from right-hand angles.
- Focus on consistency and awareness—use both building and natural cover to create right-hand peek opportunities.
Skill Focus
This drill trains players to create safer angles during combat using the game's third-person camera. By building the habit of right-hand peeking, you reduce your risk while increasing your chances of winning close-range engagements.
Why Right-Hand Peeks Are Powerful
When you peek from the right side of an object:
- You can see your opponent before they see you
- You expose less of your body while having full vision
- You can take shots while minimizing your vulnerability
- Your opponent needs to expose more of their body to shoot back
Remember that consistently using right-hand peeks can be the difference between winning and losing close-range fights. Make this technique a core part of your combat strategy.
